Application instructions

Read through the application instructions below before you start your application.

NB! The link to the e-application is always published below Ansökan (Application). See the calendar for the various application dates.
1. You can read about the qualification requirements for the various exchange places below the Behörighet till utbytesplatserna (Eligibility for exchange places) tab.

2. Go through the list of the university’s partner HEIs, which has direct links to their websites. Most agreements are linked to a specific subject or discipline.
(For ISEP-exchange (a separate call) you apply only to "ISEP" and choose the specific universities later if you are nominated.)

3. Investigate what the best options are for you by reading the HEIs websites, reading the information in Kompassen and the tips and advice provided by former exchange students. NB! Read the course offering at the HEI that interests you carefully, make sure there are course that interest you in a language you can study in.

4. Talk to your programme or subject coordinator and study guidance counsellor to get information about when is best for you to spend a semester abroad on your programme.

5. Rank you options based on where you would prefer to study. Remember that some places are more popular than other, so try to spread your options. If you are interested in studying at a university for an academic year, but would also be prepared to study for one semester, you must apply for the academic year as option 1 and the semester at the same HEI as option 2. Now you’re ready to fill in the e-application. NB! Students applying for an exchange place via ISEP do not make a ranking. Instead they apply for an ISEP place prior to the semester the current applications round is for.

6. During the application period you can find the digital application below the heading Ansökan (Application) in the menu to the right.
NB! You can find information about the application periods/calls here.

7. Appendices that MUST be appended to the e-application:
a. A motivation letter, in English of 300-500 words. You should introduce yourself and present your aims with going abroad. Which aspects of your background (e.g. courses, work experience, travel, intercultural encounters) have prepared you for living abroad? Focus on any intercultural encounters that you have had, what you have learned from these and how they can help you when you study abroad.
b. Any certificates from student activities.

8. When you are satisfied with your online application you press "submit".

9. Print your application. Sign your application and leave it/send it with the appendices attached to International Office, Studentavdelningen, Södertörns högskola, 141 89 Huddinge.

11. The students who will receive a positive response will as their next step apply to the partner university.
