Tutoring in information seeking

Where can you search for research on your essay topic? How do you get more relevant search results? How should you write references? Come to a tutorial on information searches with a librarian to learn more.

Drop in

From 3 September to 13 December, the library offers
drop in tutoring in the Info Workshop UB 517: Monday 14.00-16.00 and Thursday 10.00-12.00.

Drop in with your questions about information seeking or referencing without having to book a time. You are welcome to attend several times.

If there´s a queue when you arrive – sign your name on the reservation list outside and come back later. Each student then receives a maximum of 20 minutes tutoring session.

Book a time

You can also book a time for tutoring in information seeking. There are two bookable times per week:
Tuesday 14.00-15.00 and Wednesday 14.00-15.00.

Starting this semester, you book the time in our booking system. Go to the booking system (sign in with your SH-account or RKH-account). When the booking is complete you will receive a booking confirmation with the name of the librarian you will meet.

The library’s tutoring is held in the Info Workshop UB 517. As a distance student, you can also get tutoring via telephone or e-mail – write that you study a distance course when making the booking.

More information

Tutoring is offered to students at Södertörn University and The Swedish Red Cross University College who are writing essays etc. and want to learn more about information seeking or referencing.

Together we will work with some of the following areas: identifying your information needs, formulating search words, searching in relevant search tools, developing your search techniques, evaluating texts or writing references.

Tutoring is a teaching session where we focus on your learning process rather than the actual finding of texts. You are therefore expected to contribute actively during the session. Your experience and needs are our starting point.

Please contact biblioteket@sh.se if you have any questions (cannot be used for bookings).
