Study information

Students. Our aim is to provide students at Södertörn University with the best possible service and support, so this area of the website gathers practical information that we hope and believe you will find useful.

Do you want to know how to apply to higher education or when the semester starts? Do you need to contact the Student Health Service, or perhaps you are planning to become involved with a student organisation? Do you want to apply for a degree certificate but are unsure how to go about it? Many questions can arise during your studies; if you can't find the answer you need here, please contact one of our study guidance advisors or Student Support Services. They will be happy to help you.

Choose what you want to study at Södertörn University from our programmes and courses in our online prospectus.

Södertörn University uses a computerised student register called Ladok. Student-Ladok allows you to check your personal data, course registrations and results. You can also print out a certificate of enrolment for completed courses and examinations.

Ladok is used by most higher education institutions in Sweden. Initially, the information in Ladok is what is submitted in an application to study. During the student's studies, information regarding their course or programme registrations, study results, degrees, etc., is added continually.

Change of address

Twice each year, changes to surnames and addresses are retrieved from the Swedish register of people and addresses (SPAR). Students may change addresses in Student-Ladok themselves.

Change of name and Swedish ID number

In order to change a name and/or Swedish ID number in Ladok, it is necessary to have a civic registration certificate (personbevis) from the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket).

Regulations for Ladok

The construction and content of the student register is regulated in a study documentation ordinance (Studiedokumentationsförordningen), "Förordning om redovisning av studier med mera vid universitet och högskolor" (SFS 1993:1153). Its purpose is to secure the result of the students' studies; the information also forms the basis of follow-ups and evaluations, public statistics (SCB) and resource allocation.

All information in Ladok is covered by the principle of public access to official documents. Centrala studiestödsnämnden "Swedish student aid" (CSN) has direct access to the information contained in the register which is necessary for processing applications for financial aid for studies.
