Swedish

The subject’s focus on research in applied linguistics provides a clear research profile. In general, it deals with the relationships between language and society and includes studies of how speech and writing are used in social practices.

Research in the subject strives to work with the areas we study. Theories in linguistics and textual scholarship are therefore combined with practice-based working methods.

The research profile has three main specialisations:

  • Linguistic practices in working life.
  • Critical linguistic analyses with ideological overtones.
  • Language in teaching and learning.

Swedish, along with Education, is part of the research area for doctoral studies called Studies in the Educational Sciences, which is where our doctoral education is conducted.
