Search guide

As a student you will need to search for scholarly texts in many different contexts, for example, when writing an essay.  In this guide you will learn more about how to get started and what you need to think about along the way.

Here you will find advice and support on how to start searching, selecting the right search tool for your topic and developing your search techniques.

We will show how you can critically evaluate texts and what characterizes scholarly (so called peer reviewed) articles and other types of texts.

You will also be given an introduction to help you search for different types of materials, like books, journals, articles, doctoral theses and essays.

Last but not least, you will get tips on useful websites, guides, books and films where you can learn more about searching, evaluating and using information in relation to academic writing.
