Information for students with disabilities

Swedish students with disabilities are advised to contact the coordinator as soon as possible. This is also essential for international students who require educational support, exchange students as well as free movers.

Every Swedish higher education institution offers educational support and adjustments to students with disabilities. The assessment of the scope of this support is made on an individual basis, taking into account the student's abilities and disabilities in relation to his or her chosen field of study.

Examples of support:

  • Support with note-taking by a fellow student
  • Talking books
  • Access to computers with software with spelling program and speech synthesizer
  • Alternative examination forms decided by the examiner

Please note that we cannot assist you with transport service, technical equipment, aid and assistance outside the university setting. This support is the responsibility of the welfare services in your home municipality. Please contact the municipality before applying to the university.

If you are an exchange student, please contact your disability coordinator and/or the international office at your home university to discuss the possibility of applying for an extra ERASMUS grant to cover any support and adjustment costs during the exchange. It is also advisable to contact the study counsellor at the relevant department and the coordinator of your exchange program, so that you can plan your studies at Södertörn University well in advance.
