Tourism Studies: City Tourism

Course 30 credits

This course has a multidisciplinary and international approach, with city tourism as the starting point. In the first instance, an understanding of the future trends and conditions for global travel and tourism in a cocreative society is examined. Furthermore, we study how managers will lead tourist companies in the future using a sustainable hospitality perspective. Following this, the uses of information technology in the tourist companies’ business processes are highlighted, as well as how new products and organisation models can be developed with the help of this new technology. Finally, we study the concept of “city tourism” comparing different situations in Europe, and analyse what constitutes city tourism, the organisation of city destinations and the city tourism product.
