Intersectional Analysis: Identities, Ethnicity, Gender, Class and Sexuality

Course 7,5 credits

Sociology studies the role of various social divisions for the stratification of society, e.g. gender, age, ethnicity etc. Intersectional analysis also studies how these different dimensions of social division interact and may reinforce each other, for example being a woman, a migrant, and a member of a specific social class. Intersectional analysis thus always involves the analysis of power and how power is distributed and maintained in social processes. The course pays special attention to the interaction between identities, ethnicity, gender, class and sexuality.
