Swedish for International Students 2

Course 7,5 credits

This course is a continuation of Swedish for International Students I and continues to develop students’ knowledge of basic Swedish and their understanding of Sweden in general. Swedish grammar and syntax are covered from the perspective of learning Swedish as a second language. The course also covers Swedish pronunciation and the relationship between pronunciation and spelling. The course continues to provide students with background information about Swedish culture, society, and social life.

Please note that this course does not give eligibility to higher education conducted in Swedish. The course aims to facilitate the everyday life of international students while staying in Sweden.

Course design

The course is seminar-based.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student is able to: --describe Swedish grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation --describe and reflect on Swedish culture, social life and the Swedish social model -present Swedish syntax and pronunciation and make him/herself understood in spoken Swedish in a variety of situations and contexts -demonstrate basic understanding of written Swedish and the relationship between spelling and pronunciation


Seminar participation, written and oral assignments and a written take-home exam at the end of the course.

Grading criteria will be distributed at course/module start.
