Would you like to have more exchange with other doctoral students in your field? Do you know what other research institutions in the Stockholm region work on?

Welcome to share your knowledge and experiences and challenge your perspectives on sustainability with doctoral students from the wider Stockholm region.

The Stockholm PhD Student Dialogue on Sustainability is a forum for PhD students working in the broad area of sustainability. The annual event organized as a half-day multi-disciplinary workshop, offers PhD students an opportunity for discussing their research projects; interact and exchange ideas with fellow PhD students from related disciplines; and build networks across disciplinary and institutionalboundaries. This year’s theme will be critical perspectives in sustainability research: power, ethics,globalization and ecosystem services.

Theme

This year will have a theme on Critical perspectives in sustainability research: power, ethics, globalization and ecosystem services.The afternoon will kick off with two inspiring keynote lectures followed by round-table discussions under this broad theme. Participants will have the opportunity to define these themes themselves upon registration.

Keynote speakers

Seema Arora Johnsson

Seema Aurora JohnssonAssociate Professor in Rural Development, Department or Urban and Rural Development, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU).

Seema Arora-Jonsson’s research deals with the intersecting fields of gender, development and environmental management, citizenship in environmental management, institutions and rural development. She focuses on questions of identity, gender, ethnicity and class in the globalizing context of environmental governance and recently published the book ‘Gender, Development and Environmental Governance: Theorizing Connections’. Seema is Associate Professor at the Department of Urban and Rural Development, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU).

Monica Hammer

Monica HammerAssociate Professor and senior lecturer in Natural Resources Management, Environmental Sciences, School of Natural Sciences, Technology and Environmental Studies, Södertörn University.

Monica Hammer has extensive experience in interdisciplinary research of linkages and feedbacks between ecological and societal systems. She is a member of the Scientific Council for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services. Monica is Associate Professor in Natural Resources Management at the School of Natural Science, Technology and Environmental Studies, Södertörn University.
