The 2016 Annual Meeting and Conference on Romani Studies will be held at Södertörn University, Stockholm, Sweden, September 14 to 16, 2016.

Om konferensen

The meeting is being organised on behalf of the Gypsy Lore Society by the Centre for Baltic and East European Studies (CBEES) and the School of Culture and Education, Södertörn University in Stockholm, Sweden.

Contributions from various disciplines and perspectives on any aspect of Romani Studies are most welcome, but substantive scholarly papers will be given priority. Papers should be 20 minutes long with an additional 10 minutes allotted for discussion.

Requirements for proposals

Individual papers

Please send your abstract of no more than 250 words. Abstracts will be peer-reviewed by the academic organising committee, which includes representatives of the GLS board and local organisers. Deadline: April 30, 2016.

You will be notified if your contribution has been accepted by June 1, 2016.
 

Poster presentations

The conference provides facilities for poster presentations. Posters will be displayed during the duration of conference. Depending on the number of submissions accepted, few poster-presentation sessions are planned as “guided tours”. Posters must present research projects and results. Posters should meet academic standards in both content and form. The presentation of the poster should not exceed 5 minutes.

Please send your proposal for a poster section of no more than 100 words before April 1, 2016.
You will be notified if your contribution has been accepted by June 1, 2016.

Please send your contributions and posters in plain text format (no tables or charts) in the body of an e-mail message (not as an attachment) to the Program Chair, Associate Professor Kimmo Granqvist, kimmo.granqvist@sh.se.

Submissions should include the author’s name, institutional affiliation (if relevant), address, daytime telephone and e-mail address.

Contributions dealing with Romani language or linguistics

Please note that contributions dealing with Romani language or linguistics should be submitted for the 12th International Conference on Romani Linguistics, which will take place at Södertörn University in parallel with the GLS Conference (September 14 to 16, 2016).
