Explorations in Ethnography, Language and Communication (EELC) is a biannual conference for the Linguistic Ethnography Forum affiliated with the British Association of Applied Linguistics (BAAL).

Conference location

The conference will be hosted at Södertörn University in Stockholm. Flemingsberg Station is just a 2-minute walk from Södertörn University. It is served by local trains from central Stockholm (see www.sl.se) and by regional/national trains (see www.sj.se). For bus services to Södertörn University, please visit www.sl.se.


There are many hotels throughout Stockholm representing a wide range of prices, from budget to luxury. Participants of EELC6 are welcome to make their own arrangements for accommodation, but special conference prices have been arranged at three different hotels. The prices given below are per night, valid 21-23 September 2016, and include VAT.

This hotel is a 5-minute walk from Södertörn University and a 20-minute train ride from Stockholm center.

This hotel is located in Stockholm’s old town, a 10-minute walk from the central train station.

Conference dinner

The conference dinner will take place on Thursday, 22 September, 19.00, at Restaurang München, in the Södermalm district of Stockholm. The restaurant is located in the Brewery Conference Centre, Münchenbryggeriet, sitting atop of the western edge of Södermalm and offering spectacular views over Riddarfjärden, Kungsholmen, and Stockholm’s City Hall. Restaurang München is a 10-minute walk from the southern commuter train station, Södra station, which is easily accessed from Södertörn University, with direct trains departing every 15 minutes. The restaurant is also a short walk from the Mariatorget station on the red line of the Stockholm subway system. .
