I am associate professor and senior lecturer in sociology. Since 2002 I have been working at Södertörn University. My teaching is mainly focused on research methods, qualitative and quantitative, and supervision of dissertations at various levels. I am also responsible for the master course Health and social change.

As a researcher, I am affiliated to Reinventing the Suburb in Fragmented Landscapes and The Stockholm Centre for Health and Social Change (SCOHOST). For more info, see links to "my blog" and "my website". My research considers the relationship between different forms of social relations and health. This is being studied in Eastern Europe as well as in the Southern suburbs of Stockholm. I have published articles in journals such as ACTA Sociologica, Social Science & Medicine and Sotsiologicheskie Issledovaniya. My most recent publication concerns social capital and depression in Moscowhttps://bmcpsychology.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s40359-016-0144-1My earlier research focused on the social aspects of the Internet in urban areas. In 2003, I received my PhD from the University of Stirling in Scotland with the doctoral thesis: "The Internet, Social Capital and Local Community".
