Adjunct Professor of Economics, especially Evolutionary Economics at Åbo Akademi University: Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Södertörn.

Economist and historian working on the basis of approaches within evolutionary, Austrian, and institutional economic theory. His research deals with economic processes, using a broad social science perspective, focusing upon the role of institutions to functioning market processes. It includes innovation and growth, the significance of norms to innovative exchange, civil society and the formation of norms, the dynamics of ethics, religion, and economic performance, the financial system and the real economy, and the links between monetary arrangements and the market process. His current research deals with the historical evolution of monetary arrangements as complex adaptive systems through a theoretical study of trade and money arrangements in some historical contexts. The capability to communicate through market prices develops through social interaction in markets, where a shared understanding of the value of money emerges over time along a cognitive-behavioral spiral. The monetary history of the Baltic and North Seas region is interpreted theoretically considering cognition and institutions.

Current teaching includes macroeconomics; international macroeconomics; comparative socioeconomic systems: social choice, public finance.
