Kerstin Jacobsson works part-time as researcher at Södertörn University. She is otherwise Professor of Sociology at University of Gothenburg.

Research interests: political sociology, soft forms of regulation and governance in the European Union, EU employment and labour market policy, democracy and citizenship, social movements and civil society, social mobilization in Central and Eastern Europe.

Teaching: European Union and europeanization, sociological theory, sociology of emotions.

 

Current and recently concluded research projects:

1) "Urban social movements in the post-soviet context: Political opportunity structures and local activism in Moscow and Vilnius", funded by the The Foundation for Baltic and East European Studies (2013-2015).  Research leader: Kerstin Jacobsson.

2) "Instititutional constraints and creative solutions: Civil society in Poland in comparative perspective", funded by the Swedish Research Council (2011-14). The project studies the dynamics of civil society and social mobilization around housing, gender, parenthood and environment and animal welfare in Poland, the Czeck Republic and Lithuania. Research leader: Kerstin Jacobsson.

 3) “Housing, social mobilisation and urban governance in Central and Eastern Europe”, The Swedish Research Council Formas (2017-20)
