    Södertörn University has a new food provider on campus this semester. Högskolerestauranger are moving in, with both a café and restaurant on level 4, below the library. The focus will be on sustainability, fairtrade and food cooked on site.

    Human rights activist Rosa Taikon has died

    Yesterday we received the sad news that one of Södertörn University’s honorary doctors had passed away. Rosa Taikon was a figurehead in the struggle for Romani civil rights and a role model who advocated higher education for Romani. She also had a successful career as a silversmith. Rosa Taikon was 90 years old.

    Imagine spending 36 years documenting every dream you have, taking a photograph of every object you hold in your right hand and filming every public place you sit in. This is the focus of Alberto Frigo’s project, on which he has already spent 13 years. The public defence of his thesis, “Life-Stowing from a Digital Media Perspective: Past, Present and Future” will take place on 2 June.

Julia Malitska’s doctoral thesis, “Negotiating Imperial Rule: Colonists and Marriage in the Nineteenth-century Black Sea Steppe”, follows the colonists’ footsteps and investigates their marriages and family life.
