New café and restaurant on Campus Flemingsberg

Södertörn University has a new food provider on campus this semester. Högskolerestauranger are moving in, with both a café and restaurant on level 4, below the library. The focus will be on sustainability, fairtrade and food cooked on site.

Café PregoWalking into the new Café Prego you should smell the aroma of coffee and freshly-baked cinnamon rolls. The staff bake and decorate the buns and cakes themselves, and you can also buy meze platters, hot takeaways, salads, wraps and much more.

The restaurant is called Allé Elva Kök & Matsal and will serve five different dishes every day: two dishes of the day, a weekly favourite, a weekly pasta and a soup of the day. If you are vegan, you can rest assured that there will be an option for you every day. However, fish will not always be available due to the restaurant’s focus on the environment and problems with overfishing in the Baltic Sea. A salad buffet with at least 50% environmentally-certified ingredients accompanies the hot dishes, along with a homemade bread buffet with butter and/or various vegetarian dips.

Högskolerestauranger has more than 40 years’ experience of running restaurants and cafés at higher education institutions. It currently has locations in nine different towns and cities in Sweden and is owned by Stockholm University Student Union (SUS).

Unique to the rKaffe och Högskoleresturangers kund- och studentkortestaurant and café is that they are both cash-free, so only accept card payments. A customer card and student card are available from Högskolerestauranger, which can be topped up either at the till or over the internet. Paying with this card always provides a discount of 10% in the café; for the restaurant’s dishes of the day you get a 5:- discount with the customer card and 10:- discount with the student card.

Students can also get plenty of discounts and special offers via Studentkortet, which has a mobile app. Studentkortet will be on campus on 30 August with giveaways, offers and competitions.

Café Prego is open 07.45-18.00 Monday to Thursday, and closes at 17.00 on Fridays.
Allé Elva Kök & Matsal is open 10.30-14.00 Monday to Friday.

More information about the restaurant and café is available on Högskolerestauranger’s website (in Swedish).
