Professor Luba Jurgenson
Maître de conférences, Paris-IV Sorbonne, UFR d’Eudes Slaves. Areas of research: the memory and representations of historical violence in Central and Eastern Europe and the former USSR; spatial representations of places of detention, concentration, and extermination; contemporary memorial literature in Russia. Luba Jurgenson is supervising the transslation of Varlam Shalamov works into French.
Dr. Franziska Thun-Hohenstein
Researcher and director of a number of scholarly projects at ZFL (Zentrum für Literatur- und Kulturforschung, Berlin). Areas of research: the cultural semiotics and figurations of the empire and the national memory cultures in the former Soviet Union. Special interests are cultural memory and autobiography after Auschwitz and Gulag and literary topographies. Dr. Franziska Thun-Hohenstein is a leading scholar studying the work and legacy of Varlam Shalamov, editor in chef in the ongoing publication of Shalamov’s complete works in German.
