Jean-Luc Nancy is a philosopher and Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at the University of Strasbourg; he is also the Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel Chair at The European Graduate School in Saas-Fee, Switzerland. His major works include The Inoperative Community, The Experience of Freedom, The Sense of the World, Being Singular Plural, Corpus, The Truth of Democracy, and the two volumes The Deconstruction of Christianity. Among his recent books – After Fukushima: The Equivalence of Catastrophes, Identity: Fragments Frankness, Doing, $existence, Un trop human virus, La peau fragile du monde and Mascarons de Macron.
The lecture is part of the on-going conceptual seminars on new forms of fascism and resistance, organized in the realm of the research project “Traces of Oblivion: identity, Heritage and Memory in the Wake of a Nationalistic Turn”, supported by the Foundation for Baltic and East European Studies.
