Per Henrik Hedberg and Ola Sternäng, both at the Psychology department at Södertörn University, will present their study "Behavioral factors involved in misrepresentation and strategic choice in the United States, Russia, and Sweden".

The study investigates psychological factors that can influence how individuals in different cultures think and act in situations where their outcomes may be affected by others. Such strategic situations may vary enormously in complexity, and to some extent they are a foundational concern in all social sciences. Here, the focus is on simple interactions between two individuals.

The presentation will exemplify with a couple of studies on peoples’ pursuit of moral and instrumental consequences for themselves and a counterpart. The strategic situations are modified partial-information ultimatum games and standard negotiation situations. General predictors include indicators of strategic skills and prosocial concerns.
