Online launch: CBEES State of the Region Report 2024
A World Order in Transformation? A Comparative Study of Consequences of the War and Reactions to These Changes in the Region
Russia's full-scale invasion and war of aggression against Ukraine has, in addition to all the destruction, grief and terror for the people concerned, unravelled the profound instability in what has conventionally been understood as the world order.
The annual publication CBEES State of the Region report focuses on Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, the Balkans, and the Baltic Sea region, where we find countries that are closest to the war. This year, we have engaged 30 scholars to analyze how the countries in this region have been affected by the war to form a tentative understanding of the unfolding consequences of the war for the region. Understandably, the consequences of the war tie into historical and contemporary conditions that also preceded the war.
The report presents a contemporary overview of the diversity of challenges the region and its countries face today, both on a macro level and on a grassroots level and gives a preliminary analysis of the implications for the region's future.
All contributing authors are invited to discuss and share their reflections with the audience at the online launch on 26 March.
The paper version of the Report will be sent at the beginning of April 2024.
The online version of the Report is now also available:
