Haunted objects and the infrastructures of the dead - Dr Tamara Kneese
The School of Historical and Contemporary Studies invites you to a seminar organized collaboratively by members of the departments of Ethnology and Archaeology.
We welcome anthropologist and media scholar, Dr Tamara Kneese. Dr Kneese is Director of Algorithmic Impact Methods Lab, Data & Society, and author of Death Glitch, How Techno-Solutionism Fails Us in This Life and Beyond, published by Yale University Press in 2023.
The theme of the seminar is “Haunted objects and the infrastructures of the dead,” and we’ll use a “fireside chat,” Q&A and discussion format. In advance of the seminar, we recommend reading chapter 4 from her book, and/or one of Tamara's recent articles (here and here).
Her work crosses a number of disciplinary boundaries and will be of interest to ethnologists, historians, archaeologists, media scholars, intellectual historians, and scholars in HCI, technology, and information sciences.
If you’d like to attend from outside of Södertörn, please email jane.ruffino@sh.se or daniel.boden@sh.se so we can help you get access to the building on the day.
