Film Seminar on The Pervert's Guide to Ideology
Warm welcome to the Film Seminar on The Pervert's Guide to Ideology (2012), directed by Sophie Fiennes, and written by, and featuring the Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Žižek. Introduction by Payam Masarrat, PhD Candidate in Philosophy, Södertörn University.
The seminar starts with a short presentation by Payam Masarrat introducing Slavoj Žižek´s theory of ideology followed by the screening of Sophie Fiennes´ film The Pervert's Guide to Ideology (2012), written by and featuring Slavoj Žižek. After the screening, the seminar continues with a discussion on the film, open to all participants.

The Pervert's Guide to Ideology (2012) is a documentary film directed by Sophie Fiennes, written by, and featuring the world-renowned philosopher Slavoj Žižek. Continually referencing to classics of popular cinema, the ideological mechanisms of society are put under the spotlight with Žižek as the audience´s guide.
Slavoj Žižek (b. 1949) is most known for his interventions in German idealism, psychoanalysis and the theory of mass culture and politics. He is founder and president of the Society for Theoretical Psychoanalysis, Ljubljana, senior researcher at the Institute for Sociology and Philosophy at the University of Ljubljana, Global Distinguished Professor of German at New York University, professor of philosophy at The European Graduate School / EGS, and International Director of the Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities. His long list of publications includes The Sublime Object of Idelogy (1989), The Ticklish Subject (1999), and more recently Freedom: A Disease Without Cure (2023) and Too Late to Awaken (2023).
