Artistic Research in Interdisciplinary Contexts

Symposium co-organized by the research platforms EcoJust and Digital Transformations at Södertörn University, in collaboration with The Royal College of Music, The Royal Institute of Art, and The Institute for Future Studies.

The question of the role of art in academia is sometimes debated as if it is an existential issue. The discussion often lacks examples, even though artists and art have long been part of researchers´ toolboxes. This day is about what artistic research means in practice in interdisciplinary research projects. The ambition is to share experiences and jointly develop interdisciplinary methodologies between the natural sciences, social sciences, the humanities, and the arts that include artistic research and artistic methods.

The day begins with open lectures on two current artistic and interdisciplinary research projects, followed by a discussion panel, and a workshop on interdisciplinary research methodologies.
