Welcome to a conversation with Cas Mudde – recipient of the 2026 honorary doctorate

The recipient of this year’s honorary doctorate, Cas Mudde, will visit Södertörn University for the Commencement Ceremony. Students and staff are warmly invited to participate in the discussion, which will be led by Professor Ann-Cathrine Jungar.

Cas Mudde is one of the world’s most influential researchers on populism and the radical right. His research has been of great significance for the understanding of how populist and far-right movements influence democratic systems, both in Europe and globally. For decades, he has analysed the actors, ideas and impact of the far right, and his work has become an inspiration in modern political science. Mudde regularly features in public debate through his interviews, popular science texts and columns.

In associate with the award of his honorary doctorate by Södertörn University, he will participate in a conversation with Ann-Cathrine Jungar, professor of political science, which will take his research as its starting point. The talk will be held in English.
