Deconstruction and Memory

A seminar with Safaa Fathy, poet, documentary filmmaker, and essayist. 

The seminar opens with a screening of D’ailleurs, Derrida, directed by Safaa Fathy. The film offers a singular cinematic engagement with the thought and presence of Jacques Derrida, combining philosophy, exile, language, and memory through an intimate documentary form.

The screening will be followed by a conversation with Hans Ruin, Sven-Olov Wallenstein and Marcia Sá Cavalcante Schuback.

The discussion will address themes emerging from the film, including philosophy and cinema, exile and language, and the relation between thought, voice, and image.
