I hold a PhD in English and Literary studies, an MA in Literature in English and a BA (ED) degree in Education/English with emphasis on teaching English as a second language. I also hold a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). My PhD dissertation was on the works of Anglophone women writers from Africa, the Caribbean and America. My research interests span the field of postcolonial literature and cultural studies, gender studies in African, Caribbean and American Literatures, Children’s literature and general English studies and communication as well as the field of Education – areas I have done substantial research and conference presentations and made publications.
I had taught in a number of universities in Nigeria before moving on to Abu Dhabi University, United Arab Emirates as an Assistant Professor of English and Technical Communication Studies. . I taught courses in literature, grammar, English for business communication and technical writing, Ethics and Practice in Profession and Businesses, university study skills as well as research methods. I also mentored students who participated in the first Abu Dhabi University Research Conference which I was a principal facilitator. I also served as course coordinators for two courses for the entire period I worked at the university. During my four year stay at Abu Dhabi University, I won the best teaching and best researcher awards for two consecutive academic sessions. Since moving to Sweden, I have been teaching English for academic purposes at Kungliga Tekniska Högskola since the summer of 2015. I have also been teaching at Södertörns högskola since October, 2015. I have supervised C-essays, taught courses in Academic Writing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. I have also taught courses in postcolonial literature and at the present teach a course in literature at the Master’s level and another course in Children and Youth Culture.
