I am a police superintendent turned criminology professor. I earned my police degree at the Swedish Police Academy in 2004 and completed my PhD in Sociology at Stockholm University in 2016. I am a member of the Homeland Security Committee of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and an affiliated researcher at the Miller Center on Policing and Community Resilience, Rutgers University, and I hold a Distinguished Fellowship at the University of Ottawa Professional Development Institute in Canada.
My research primarily focuses on criminal collaborations, including organized crime, the criminal economy, and violent extremism. Together with our research team, I systematically investigate and seek to understand how criminal collaborations arise, are maintained, and interact, as well as the life trajectories of individuals who are or have been involved in these environments. We utilize extensive longitudinal Swedish register data on crime, demographics, health, and corporate engagement, along with analytical methods such as network analysis, econometric models, and systematic risk factor reviews.
