Cheick Wagué is a professor of Business Administration, Vice-chancellor Adviser, former Dean and founder member of School of Business Studies at Southern Stockholm University (Södertörns högskola). Cheick holds a Master's Degree in Economics from Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest (1982), a Master´s Degree in Education from Stockholm University School of Higher Education (1989) and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Stockholm University School of Business (1990).

Prior to his appointment at Southern Stockholm University, Cheick was a senior lecturer at Stockholm University School of Business, where he directed the Department of Accounting and Management Control (1992-1998). A deeply committed educator, Cheick have been nominated by faculty and students and selected by the Pedagogical Advisory Committee to receive Stockholm University´s Outstanding Teaching Award in 1995. He is even awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Students' Union at Southern Stockholm University since 2000.

Cheick has developed, directed and taught in such varied fields as Critical Analytical Thinking and Research Methods, Financial and Managerial Accounting, International and Comparative Business, Business Intelligence and Competitive Advantage, Managerial Economics and Firm Theory, International Entrepreneurship and Strategic Analysis, Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Branding, International Business Strategy and Diversity Challenge, Emerging Markets and the Future of Frontier Markets.

Cheick have conducted international joint research projects with colleagues from universities in India, Oman and USA. His current research is in the areas of International Corporate Governance, Emerging Capital Markets, Competitive Analysis, and the strategic implications of globalization. Cheick has served on the editorial boards of several scholarly publications; he has been managing co-editor of European Journal of Management, Journal of Academy of Business and Economics and Journal of International Finance Research.

Cheick´s research has been published in International Journal of Applied Economics and Econometrics, International Journal of Business Research, Journal of Emerging Capital Markets, Review of Business Research, International Journal of Finance and Economics, Journal of Economic Asymmetries, International Journal of Business Strategy, among others.

Cheick has designed and delivered executive programs to managers in the private and public sectors, both in Sweden and abroad. He is a frequent participant and invited speaker at scientific meetings, conferences, and symposia and has been Visiting Faculty Member at Université Paris IX Dauphine (France), Indian Institute of Management (India), Academia Studii Economice Bucurest (Romania), Nanyang Technological Institute - School of Accountancy and Commerce, (Singapore), Universidade Federal Da Paraiba, Depto. Economia - Centro de Ciencias Sociais Aplicadas, João Pessoa (Brazil), Middlesex University School of Accounting and Finance(UK), Sultan Qaboos University (Oman) and California State University Stanislaus (USA).

Cheick has been Executive Board Member (2004-2010) and President (2010-2012) of a leading global organization of academic scholars: International Academy of Business and Economics, (IABE ). The vision of the academy is to promote international exchange of state-of-the-art knowledge and ideas in research, teaching and managerial best practices to help improve nations´ productivity and competitiveness worldwide.
