I am currently the head of school at Natural Sciences, Technology and Environmenal Studies, Södertörn University.
I am also a Senior Lecturer in Journalism with a focus on Media Technology.
My research interests are focused on two separate areas: Data journalism and Digital integrity. Since August 2017, I am one of several researchers in the Vinnova funded project Sjyst Data.
Between January - March 2017, I was a visiting researcher at the Center for Internet Studies and Digital Life, School of Communication, Universidad de Navarra. More information about the Center: http://www.unav.edu/en/web/digital-studies/home
2014 - 2015 I was a participating researcher in the Vinnova funded project DISTINCT. This project was focused on media consumption, digital integrity and methods to measure consumption. More information about the project can be found at:
During 2011 - 2014 I was the project manager of the Vinnova funded project "Datajournalistik". In the project consortium, seven media companies (SVT, SR, Aftonbladet, SvD, Helsingborgs Dagblad, Mittmedia and NTM) participated as well as Sas Institute. The project blog can be reached at: http:// www.blogg.sh.se/datajournalistik/
I received my doctoral degree in 2007 with my dissertation thesis "Media Convergence and Digital News Services" at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. My dissertation is of a cross-disciplinary nature with a focus on media convergence in the newspaper industry. During the five years of doctoral studies I investigated the Swedish newspaper industry, however a few smaller studies were carried out at international media companies and their ventures in new media.
My main research method were deep interviews, carried out with different work roles at the newspaper companies. I also worked in a two year project on electronic paper (today this is popularly named as e-book readers or iPads) financed by the European Commission. In the project we explored business models, target groups and how to adapt electronic paper to the newspaper companies existing workflow. The final two years of my doctoral studies I focused on usage of new media services at newspaper companies. My interest for statistics became central and I received a scholarship to study statistics at the University of Michigan.
After my dissertation, I worked as an analyst at H&M with customer surveys, focus groups, web analytics and studies about the competitors as well as data mining. Previous to that I also worked as a media analyst at Mediavision.
I was a member of the Faculty Board at Södertörn from 2013 to spring 2015.
Between 2015 and 2017 I was the Head of Department, Journalism and Economics, School of Social Sciences.
I am currently a member of the board of NODA, arranging nordic Data Journalism conferences.
Since august 2018, I am also an alternate member of the board for FSMK (The Swedish Association for Media and Communication Research).
