Historical and Contemporary Studies

F1032

I am currently a PhD candidate at Södertörns hogskola in Sweden, researching contemporary esotericism in Ukraine. Before this, I was a research masters student at the University of Amsterdam department of Theology and Religious studies (Western esotericism track). My background is rather striped: I earned my bachelors degree in philosophy and masters in cultural studies at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and did a year at the M. T. Rylsky Institute of Art, Folklore Studies and Ethnology as a graduate student.

My main research interests are the history of magic (with all of the difficulties the term entails), occultism and esotericism, as well as the general theory of religion and methodology of religious studies.

I am a member of the ESSWE (European Society for the Study of Western Esotericism) and a Board member of the ASEM (Association for the Study of Esotericism and Mysticism — the post-Soviet network for the study of esotericism).
