Niklas Öhman is a PhD-student in Comparative Literature with a orientation towards didactics and educational history. He has a background as a Secondary School teacher in the subjects of swedish (linguistics, literature) and history. His primary research interests include literary studies (didactics of literature), educational history, policy studies, and various forms of critical cultural theory. In his PhD-thesis Niklas studies the strategic and disciplinary functions of literary studies within the Swedish educational system during the post-war-era, and how this relates to the transformation of concepts such as bildung, democracy, equality and cultural diversity.
