My PhD project aims to explore the interrelations between social-spatial inequalities and the current challenges of living in segregated urban areas. I am particularly interested to peruse this by exploring the lived experiences associated with these inequalities to understand how urban segregation is perceived as a problem and how it affects the lives of those who are impacted by it. I also seek to investigate the role of urban planning in advancing environmental and social justice in marginalized communities. The objective is to assess the adaptiveness of existing planning processes and, eventually, ways in which planning could be more inclusive and effective in representing the voices of marginalized communities.
