Was pre-industrical agricultural activity in the Baltic Sea coastal zone effecting environmental status of the coastal waters? In my PhD project I use fossil pollen to reconstruct land-use and vegetation history during the past 3000 years. I further correlate these data to changes visible in the Baltic Sea coastal diatom records (see SEASIDE project External link, opens in new window.).
