I am a project researcher in Political Science and International Relations with a background (PhD) in Peace and Development Research. My research focuses on military power and armament in Europe during the 20th and the 21th century, with a particular focus on military conscription and recruitment policies. More broadly, I am interested in how states and armed forces justify the preparation and use of armed combat and war.
In my role as a project researcher at Södertörn University, I lead a project titled 'From a “Sea of Peace” to a “NATO lake"? A feminist security analysis of island militarisation in the Baltic Sea'. The project, which is financed by The Foundation for Baltic and East European Studies, aims to make visible assumptions that make possible - or challenge - the militarization of the Baltic Sea islands Bornholm, Gotland and Åland.
