Events at Södertörn University Library

Evenemang på biblioteket

You are welcome to attend lectures, exhibitions and other types of events at the library. On this page you can read more about current and past events from our programme activities. Here you will also find contact details and information if you want to organise an event together with us at the library.

The Library's programme activities aim to present the University's research and to address the big (and small) issues of our time in an inviting way. Some events are organised on a temporary basis, while others are recurring. What all events have in common is that everyone is welcome to take part in them. The events are designed by the library staff and in collaboration with the university's researchers, students and other stakeholders. The library has a co-creative and supportive role, and we are happy to lend our event spaces.

PopVet: the library's open popular science lecture series

PopVet aims to communicate Södertörn University's research in an accessible way. The idea is that everyone should be able to participate in the lecture series, without any prior subject knowledge required. The lectures take place during lunchtime in the library's open lounge area. The guest lecturers come from various academic disciplines and shed light on the major issues of our time from different perspectives. Our ambition is for PopVet to be an inviting arena for inspiration and reflection.

Please note that all PopVet lectures are in Swedish.

Current exhibitions

Judge the book by its cover

Från utställningen "Döm boken efter omslaget" på Södertörns högskolebibliotek

The semi-permanent exhibition ‘Judge the book by its cover’ is currently on display at the library. The exhibition features posters with aesthetically pleasing book covers from Södertörn University's publishing activities.

By showcasing covers from the university's book publications, we aim to spark curiosity about the content of the books and to inspire visitors to engage with the high-quality and relevant research conducted at Södertörn University.

The book covers are displayed at the library's entrance floor. You will find the exhibition area between the journal wall and the quiet computer room, as well as at the adjacent back of the stairwell by the window facing Primus. The exhibition is continuously updated with new posters.

The covers displayed in the exhibition are designed by research editors Jonathan Robson and Per Lindbom.

Since its establishment in 1996, Södertörn University has been an important actor in academic publishing within Sweden. During the last ten years we have published around 30 titles per year, publishing a wide range of research that critically explores the complexities and ambiguities of our own historical present, the past, and that creates the space for discussing possible futures.

Here you can read more about publications and series from Södertörn University.

Other events

The library also organises other types of events. In addition to lectures and exhibitions, you can take part in book signing ceremonies, book releases and panel discussions.

At the beginning of each semester, the Study Support Unit holds open lectures in the library lounge, where you can learn more about study techniques and academic writing.

The University Chaplaincy regularly organizes activities in the library. You are welcome to try meditation, knitting café or Swedish talk.

You can find information about each activity in the event calendar.

Organize an event with the library
