Students on distance learning courses

If you are a student on a distance learning course at Södertörn university you can use the library to borrow books, search information and get support in any library matters. If you live outside of Stockholm, you can also get books sent to your home address, free of charge.

Borrow books

If you live in Stockholm

You can not get books sent home within the Stockholm area. Borrow by coming to the library and present your ID at the information desk. You can find information abour loan periods on the page Borrow. You can also choose to get an SH card, which is valid as library card, key card, and copy card. Please contact Infocenter to get an SH card.

If you live outside of Stockholm

As a student on one of the university's distance learning courses you can have books sent to your home, free of charge, on the condition that you live in Sweden, but outside of Stockholm, and have a post code not beginning with "1".

The loan period for "distance loans" is one week more than the usual. This means that you can keep course books for 14 days, and three week loans for 28 days. Please note that you are personally responsible for the books reaching the library, including all the postage costs.

To get started you must email the library at Include the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your Swedish personal ID number (if you have one)
  • That you are a student at a distance learning course
  • Go to the library search tool SöderScholarexternal link.
  • Find the book you would like to borrow and click "Request". If the book is available, you must ask the library to request it for you.
  • Log in if you are not already logged in.
  • When the question "Where should the reservation go?" pops up, choose the alternative "Send it to me".
  • Return the books by mail to Södertörns högskolebibliotek, 141 89 Huddinge.

Printed books, e-books, databases and more

With the library search tool SöderScholarexternal link and the database listexternal link you can access course literature, electronic journals and other electronic resources that will help you in your studies. Tutoring in information seeking at a distance

The library offers tutorials on information seeking for students writing essays and assignments. We offer tutorials both on campus and online. The SH-StudyWeb

Use your SH account (username and password) to log in to the SH-StudyWeb, the learning management system of the university. You will see your course room at the latest a couple of days before your course starts. You will find more information on the page SH-StudyWeb.
