Publish your essay in DiVA

As a student at Södertörn University or the Swedish Red Cross University College you can publish your Bachelor’s essay or Master's dissertation in the digital archive, DiVA. The archive consists of publications written by both researchers and students.

When can I publish my essay in DiVA?

When your essay has received a passing grade and when you have made all the necessary amendments to the text as requested by your teacher, you can publish your essay in DiVA. Please see page Writing an essayexternal link to make sure you haven't missed anything.

Check your text so that it does not contain any personal identity numbers or other information that should not be available on the Internet.

Use the "Checklist for publishing in DiVA" when you fill in the DiVA form.

The essay / thesis that is registered must be at a C level (Bachelor) or higher.

Suggestion! Put the checklist and the DiVA form in two windows next to each other. It simplifies when you register.

Only the below information is needed. The remaining fields in the DiVA form can be left empty.


All authors must be included. If you want to add an author, click “Another author”.

  • Last name

  • Choose organization (SH chooses institution, alt. Teacher Education, Police Education. RKH chooses the Red Cross University College)
  • E-mail (if you want to receive an e-mail when the thesis has been published in DiVA)

Fill in if you want the title to be displayed in an additional language (optional).

When should the file be made freely available?

If the text is considering to be an article, you can choose a later date for when the full text will be visible in DiVA.

  • Make freely available later (only if you are writing an article from the text)

Upload file

Only the version of your thesis that has been approved by your examiner is to be uploaded to DiVA. Scroll down to “Browse…” to upload the file.

  • Upload your thesis in PDF format

Publishing conditions

Please read the publication condition before approving.

  • accept the publishing conditions

Click Continue

Make sure everything is correct and then click “Submit”.

Click Cancel/Save draft to continue the registration later. You will find your saved drafts in "My drafts"

We check all registrations before publication and it may take a couple of days before your thesis becomes visible in DiVA.

How can my essay be accessible?

Your published essay will be search­able in several places:

  • DiVA-portal (diva-portal.org)external link, opens in new window, is an open repository, where many Swedish universities and research institutions register and publish their research. Both Södertörns University and the Swedish Red Cross University College are members of the DiVA-cooperation. 
  • Uppsök (uppsök.se)external link, opens in new window and Essays.seexternal link, opens in new window contain essays from Swedish universities.
  • Your essay can be found by external search engines, such as Google.
  • Your essay is indexed in URKUND (urkund.com)external link, opens in new window, which is an automated system that helps to detect attempts to plagiarise your text.
