New student? Welcome to the library!

Being new might feel overwhelming. To try to help you, on this page you will find a collection of information, important for all new students.

Library card

You need a library card to use the library. If you are a student at Södertörn University, your SH card is your library card. This means that you don't have to do anything more than picking up your SH card in order to start checking out books. If you are a student at the Swedish Red Cross University College or the University College of Music Education in Stockholm you will have to come to the Information desk in the library and present valid ID to collect your library card.

Find your course literature

Are you looking at a long list of books you can't really grasp? You will find help on how to interpret your reading list on the page Understand your reading list.

Course literature in accessible formats

If you have a reading impairment, you can get your course books as talking books or Braille. Read more on how to do it and make a personal appointment on the page Get talking books and other accessible media.

E-books and databases

As a student at Södertörn University or the Swedish Red Cross University College, you can access e-books and databases that the librray subscribes to off campus. Search in SöderScholarexternal link or find a particular database in the library's list of databasesexternal link.
