New to the university? We’re here to help!

Welcome to the autumn semester of 2021 and the start of your studies at Södertörn University – we hope that you will be happy here. Some of you may be studying in higher education for the very first time, some of you could be starting your final semester and some of you will be new to Stockholm. Whoever you are and however long you have been studying, we’re pleased you’re here.

  • Registration. The registration process varies between the different programmes and courses, with some having roll-calls and others not. This is where you can find out what applies for you.
  • Take a look at our checklist for new students. It has everything you need to do before your course or programme begins.
  • Study Support Unit. The unit offers help and guidance to students at Södertörn University with issues relating to writing, making presentations and study technique.
  • · Questions about your choice of specialisation? How to put together a degree? What courses are available at the university? Ask the counsellors at the Careers and Study Guidance unit.
  • Finding accommodation. Finding accommodation in Stockholm is not easy, but it is possible. You must count on it taking some time, particularly if you want a student room or student apartment. Here are some suggestions about finding somewhere to live.
  • Join the students' union.
  • Explore our fantastic library at the heart of our campus. Many of the books on your reading list are available on loan, both as physical books and as e-books.
  • Cafés and restaurants, or perhaps a packed lunch? There are several restaurants in and around the university, and there are also facilities for reheating your own food. Here are a few suggestions.
  • Training. Student life is about more than studying, and there are plenty of options for sports and exercise close to the university. We have listed a few of them here.
  • Get help with your business idea. SH innovation is a meeting place for people who want to develop business ideas and entrepreneurship.
  • The student portal is at sh.se/studentenglish. It has news articles and shortcuts to the functions and pages you need in your everyday life as a student.
  • Help answering your questions. It is natural to have lots of questions if you are a new student. We have listed where you can find help with the most common questions.
