The ceremonies will be held on June 4 and 5, 2026, in the auditorium at Södertörn University. They are intended for students in their final semester of a program or those who have put together their own degree through independent courses. Students in teacher education programs and the police program do not participate, as these programs have their own graduation ceremonies.

During the ceremony, you as a student will take part in a shared formal occasion featuring speeches, musical performances, and recognition of your time as a student. It is a memorable opportunity to conclude your studies and look ahead to the future.

Students on all study programmes, apart from Teacher Education and Police Education, will be invited to attend the ceremony and bring their closest relatives. Students who are nearing the end of their studies on freestanding courses will also be invited. Police Education and Teacher Education already organise regular graduation ceremonies. You do not need to have formally graduated to attend the ceremony.

“It feels both rewarding and important that we can celebrate and say farewell to the students who have completed their studies at Södertörn University. It has been requested by the students themselves, to have a chance to celebrate with their fellow students and their loved ones,” says Ylva Fältholm, Vice-Chancellor of Södertörn University.

The issue of graduation ceremonies has been raised in various contexts over the past few years not only by individual students, but also by SöderS students’ union and the SÖFRE student association. In May 2024, the Communication & PR unit conducted a survey of the university’s programme students, including questions about their preferred graduation format – the majority of students preferred for some form of ceremonial graduation.

The time of your programme’s closing ceremony will be announced shortly. Information about the ceremony, registration, etc., will be updated on an ongoing basis. If you have any questions, please contact event@sh.se.
