Many areas of society are working on sustainable development and greening their activities, in which knowledge of biology and ecology are important components, so these courses can be valuable regardless of your degree specialisation.
Skills for identifying future risks and controlling, diagnosing and treating disease Are you interested in health and disease prevention, and do you want an overview of the field of infectious disease control, contributing factors, threats and challenges? This course provides examples of how infectious diseases are controlled, diagnosed and treated based on health conditions at different geographical scales. You will learn to analyse biological processes that regulate the spread and emergence of infectious diseases, and to categorise important infectious diseases according to the type of biological agent, spreading mechanism and disease progression. The course provides you with the necessary skills for identifying future risks of changes to the prevalence and distribution of infectious diseases, as well as the risk of new infectious diseases evolving, in relation to local and global changes in the environment and climate. Course design The course is built up around lectures, compulsory seminars and includes a study visit. Grades awarded on the basis of a written examination and oral and written assignments.
