Political strategies for social justice
The course focuses on state governance and policies and how these are used to counter various forms of inequality and to promote equality and social justice. The courses give you an insight into the conditions for promoting social change in a global and European context, as well as an in-depth knowledge of the Nordic welfare model and the concept of gender equality.
The course is based on an intersectional perspective on social justice, which means that we explore the interaction between different power regimes in relation to issues of social change and justice. We apply critical perspectives on central concepts, and you will practice analysing and state governmentality and political strategies from different perspectives.
During the course, you will have the opportunity to explore a research area that deals with state policies for social change in more depth.
This course is taught through lectures, seminars and home assignments, and examined through active participations in seminars, and taken-home exam and an individual assignment that is presented orally and in writing.
The course will be conducted in English and is included in our one-year Master's programme in Gender Studies, specialising in Gender Politics in Practice. This means that you will have the opportunity to meet and study together with Swedish students.
