Literary texts in English and their relationship to cultural conditions
This course focuses on the description of cultural and societal conditions in the modern English-speaking world in relation to literature. The texts are from a variety of genres, such as poetry, prose, drama and film, and mainly from the 1950s onward. You will learn to apply fundamental tools and concepts in the close reading and analysis of these texts and produce written and oral analyses, as well as participate in discussions, put forward a point of view, make a presentation, and write a literary essay in English.
Teaching is in the form of lectures and seminars, and the course is assessed through written examination, written assignments, oral presentations, and attendance at lectures and seminars.
