Third stream activities

Archaeology at Södertörn University works closely with a range of archaeology stakeholders, both in education and research. This is not least the case during the second semester’s fieldwork, when we conduct seminar excavations in partnership with a museum or other institutions.

Because an archaeologist’s work is needed in many places in society, we place great emphasis on external contacts. A considerable amount of research involves third stream activities, and teaching staff are involved in projects, such as ones concerning cultural heritage issues. Research and third stream activities are then linked to teaching, and the contacts provide students at Master’s level with opportunities for placements.
