Informatics

Research in Informatics examines how IT/digitalisation can create value and benefit the management and development of an organisation.

At Södertörn University, the subject currently focuses on digital business development, in close cooperation with businesses and public authorities. Research is interdisciplinary, including subjects such as business studies. Research results primarily consist of studies in work and process methodology relating to digitalisation within an organisation, which is done from the perspectives of both business and information. Information processes are studies as a sociotechnical phenomenon, in which digital solutions are part of integrating resources with, for example, human and physical resources. Relevant research methods are action research and case study methodology. Current digital technology and design are included as an integral, but subordinate, element of research and working methods – such as the agile method, UX, automated decision support, machine learning/AI and augmented reality.
