Graduation ceremonies
Are you about to complete your studies? Congratulations!
Whether you are enrolled in a programme or have taken freestanding courses, you can participate in a graduation ceremony in June. This is a formal occasion to mark the completion of your studies and provides an opportunity to recognise and celebrate your achievements together with fellow students, family, and friends.
Registration for the ceremony is now closed. An information email will be sent out shortly to those who have registered.
The ceremonies will take place on 4–5 June 2026 in the main auditorium at Södertörn University and are intended for students in the final semester of a programme, as well as those who have completed their studies through freestanding courses. Students in Teacher Education and Police Education will not be participating, as the programmes have separate graduation ceremonies.
Each ceremony has a formal programme of speeches, music and a recognition of your time as a student. This will be a memorable occasion to mark the end of your studies and look ahead to the future.

Frequently asked questions
When should I and my guests arrive at the ceremony?
Students must be on site 30 minutes before the ceremony starts for a mandatory roll call. The doors to the auditorium open 30 minutes before, and guests are recommended to arrive 30 minutes before the ceremony begins in order to be checked off the list.
How do I get more information?
On Monday, June 1, an information letter will be sent to you as a student with important details, including which group you belong to and where in the auditorium you should go. This is the group you will go on stage with. Usually, this is done by class, but classes and programs may sometimes be mixed.
Which students participate in the ceremony?
If you are in your final semester of a program, or if you have created your own program through individual courses and intend to complete your studies in Spring Term 2026, you have been able to register for the ceremony. Students in teacher education programs and the police training program do not participate, as these programs have their own graduation ceremonies.
Information about guests
Only guests whose first and last names you have provided in your registration may attend the ceremony. You can see your guests’ names in your registration confirmation.
If you did not include any guests in your registration, you cannot bring any guests. Seating and catering have been planned based on the number of registered students and guests.
We will have a check-in list at the entrances to the auditorium, so only guests on the list will be allowed to attend the ceremony. If you have listed more guests in your registration, only the first two will be admitted.
Please note that the maximum is two guests per student. No exceptions will be made to add a third guest. Small children may sit on a parent’s lap and must be registered with us via event@sh.se.
Guests are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes before the ceremony begins.
How will the ceremony take place?
Each ceremony lasts approximately 1–1.5 hours, followed by one hour of mingling in the foyer with non-alcoholic sparkling drinks.
Students gather 30 minutes before the ceremony to be called in their groups.
Guests take their seats first, after which the students will process into the auditorium. During the ceremony, there will be short speeches and musical performances. Students’ names will be called on stage, and students will go up in groups.
Students and guests will not be seated together. Students will sit in their groups in reserved, marked rows closest to the stage, as each program will go on stage. A student ambassador will guide you to the correct place. Guests will sit in the rows behind with free seating.

Will diplomas be handed out?
No. We will not hand out diplomas or degree certificates during the ceremonies. Students participating in a ceremony will instead receive a letter of appreciation on stage as a keepsake from the ceremony.
Dress code
The graduation ceremony is a formal occasion, and the recommended dress code for participating students is semi-formal. This means a suit in any color, or a dress, skirt, jumpsuit, or tailored outfit. The dress code is not mandatory but serves as a recommendation and guideline—please follow it as best you can. Guests are also encouraged to dress smartly to honor the students and contribute to the formal atmosphere.
Other important information
Confetti cannons or similar items are not allowed in the auditorium or in the foyer.
