Password for your SH-Account

Do you often forget the password for your SH-Account, or do you want to change it? This page has all the information you need.

Have you forgotten your password or didn’t manage to change it in time? The information here tells you how to register and change secondary contact details, and how to change or recover the password to your SH-Account. Remember that you must register secondary contact details if you want to recover the password to your SH-Account. Read more about how below.

You must register a secondary email address and phone number to be able to recover your password. If you haven’t already done so, this option will automatically appear the first time you log into Office 365. You can also follow the steps below:

  • Click on the link to enter secondary contact detailsexternal link. Fill in the username and password for your SH-Account.
  • You will see the headings “Telefon för autentisering har inte konfigurerats” (Phone for authentication has not been configured) and “Autentiseringsmeddelande via e-post har inte konfigurerats” (Authentication by email has not been configured). To register a phone number, click on “Konfigurera det nu” (Configure now).
  • Choose the country and then enter the phone number you want to add. You choose whether you want to confirm your phone number by clicking on “ring mig” (call me) or “skicka sms” (send text message). Enter the verification code in the field and click on “verifiera” (verify).
  • Now register a secondary email address: Autentiseringsmeddelande via e-post har inte konfigurerats--> Konfigurera det nu (Authentication message via email has not been configured) --> Configure now.
  • · You will see the headings “Telefon för autentisering har inte konfigurerats” (Phone for authentication has not been configured) and “Autentiseringsmeddelande via e-post har inte konfigurerats” (Authentication by email has not been configured). To register a phone number, click on “Konfigurera det nu” (Configure now).
  • Enter the email address you want to add and click on “mejla mig” (email me). Note that you should use a private email address and not your SH-Account. The Microsoft Online Services Team will now send an email to the address you provided. If you don’t receive an email, check the spam folder. The email has a verification code that you enter and click “verifiera” (verify).

Now you have registered your secondary contact details and can restore your password yourself!

Have you changed your phone number or email address and need to change your secondary contact details? Just follow the below steps. NB! If you change your mind along the way, click on “Föregående” (previous) or “Avbryt” (Cancel):

  • Go to the link for how to change secondary contact details.external link
  • Enter your SH-Account details. Remember that your username needs to end with @suni.se. Then click “Nästa” (Next) and enter the password for your SH-Account. Then click “Logga in” (Log in).
  • To change your email address, follow the same steps as above. Click “Ändra” (Change), enter your secondary email address and click “Mejla mig” (Email me).
  • If the changes look okay, click on “Ser bra ut” (Looks good), and then you’re finished!
  • To change the phone number, click “Ändra” (Change). Change your phone number and then choose whether you want to get a text message or get a phone call to recover your account.

Now you have changed your secondary contact details!

To recover your password via Office 365, you must first have registered secondary contact details. If you haven’t done this, you can read more about how to do this below the heading “Hur du registrerar alternativa kontaktuppgifter” (How to register secondary contact details). The steps below show how to recover the password for your SH-Account:

  • Go to the link for password recoveryexternal link. Now there are a series of clicks:
  • Click “Use another account”.
  • Click “Work or school account, Created by your IT department”. Enter the username for your SH-Account and click “Next”.
  • Then click on “Can’t access your account”.
  • Now you need to enter verification details. Choose your secondary email address and click on “E-post” (Email). You should now receive a verification email from the Microsoft Online Services Team at your registered email address that includes a verification code. Enter the verification code on the restore page and click “Nästa” (Next).
  • Now click on “Skicka ett sms till min mobiltelefon” (Send a text to my mobile phone). Enter the phone number you registered and click “Text”. You can also choose to receive be called, in which case you click on “Ring min mobiltelefon” (Call my mobile phone).
  • If you chose a text message you should have received one from Microsoft with a verification code. If you chose to be called, an automatic voice will read the verification code to you. Enter the verification code and click “Nästa” (Next).
  • Choose a new password and then click “Slutför” (End). You can read about how to compose a password under the heading “Our password criteria".

Now you’ve recovered your password!

Via app.sh.se/account

Go to app.sh.se/accountexternal link and log in using one of the available options for recovering your SH-Account password.

Via MedieCenter

You can change your password via SH-StudyWeb, Office365 or a computer in an ICT suite. Change the password for your SH-Account. external link

When you change your password it is synchronised across all systems (university computers, DiVA, Office 365, SH-StudyWeb and the university’s wireless network).

It may take up to 15 minutes for your new password to work.

A password must be composed in the following manner:

1. It must have at least 10 characters.2. It must include the following characters:
  • A – Z
  • a – z
  • 0 – 9, blank space
  • the following special characters: ~, !, @, #, $, %, ^, &, (, ), _, +, -, *, /, =, {, }, [, ], |, \, :, ;, ’ (single quote), ” (double quote), <, >, , (comma), . (full stop), and ?
  • Do not use Å, Ä or Ö in your password as this may cause login problems on some equipment.

3. Include at least one upper case letter, at least one lower case letter, and at least one special character or number.

4. Do not include your name or username.
