Applying for accommodation

All eligible students must apply for accommodation in the Mobility Online tool. If you are an exchange student, you will be sent a link on completing your application. If you are a non-EU/EEA Master’s student, a link to a form is included in your acceptance letter; the form must be filled in and then you will receive an email with a link to the accommodation application. Mobility Online has information about how to apply for accommodation.

The application period is 1 April – 1 May for the autumn semester and 1 September – 15 October for the spring semester.

Who is eligible for accommodation?

Södertörn University’s student accommodation is only available to exchange students and non-European Master’s students. It is only for students who are in their first year of studying at Södertörn University. Students must take at least 15 credits per semester to be eligible for accommodation.

If you are not eligible for accommodation from Södertörn University, you are responsible for finding your own accommodation.

What are the requirements?

There is no guarantee that rooms will be available. Rooms will be allocated in the following order:

  1. International Master's students (non-EU/EEA)
  2. Exchange students (non-EU/EEA)
  3. Exchange students (EU/EEA)
  4. Exchange students (Nordic)

In each category, priority is given to students staying for a full academic year. After this, accommodation is allocated on a first-come first-served basis.

How to apply?

Exchange students can apply for accommodation through the Mobility Online system. You will be emailed your login details after you have been nominated by your university, and will then be able to select your accommodation preferences.

Fee-paying students will need to fill out a form, sent with the acceptance letter, to access the Mobility Online system. You will receive login details by email and will then be able to select your accommodation preferences.

The number of rooms is limited. Please rank your choices (1, 2 and 3) on the application form. There will be more students than available rooms, so you must choose more than one option if you wish to improve your chances of a place in university accommodation.

An accepted offer of accommodation is binding, and your room will be reserved for a semester or the full academic year. We cannot change your accommodation once it has been allocated; this applies however long you are staying. The first month’s rent must be paid in advance and payment details will be emailed to you. If you wish to extend your stay from one semester to two semesters, please contact your housing officer three months before your contract ends.

If you apply after the deadline, we cannot offer you a room unless there is a cancellation and no students who applied on time accept the room.
