The Truths of Psychoanalysis

The eleventh Meeting of The International Society of Psychoanalysis and Philosophy (ISPP) International Conference at Södertörn University and ABF.

The International Society of Psychoanalysis and Philosophy (ISPP) gathers members from Europe (including Eastern Europe), North- and South America.. A group from Södertörn University collaborating with members from the Psychoanalytical association in Sweden is hosting its yearly meeting in May 2019, at Södertörn University and at ABF.

The aim of the conference, is to gather scholars working to integrate psychoanalytic perspectives on contemporary social, political, cultural and/or philosophical issues. Many of the members of ISPP are practicing analysts, as well as university lecturers and researchers. This conference engages with truth in psychoanalysis as a multifaceted concept. It discusses truth at a subjective level, but also engages with how to respond to cultures of manipulation and propaganda, and with the undoing of reality at a collective level. The conference explores truth from theoretical and political as well as clinical points of view, wishing to encourage a broad discussion of a topical issue. It wishes to illuminate our contemporary horizon through the retrieval of past experiences and vice versa.

Keynote speakers:

Professor Vladimir Safatle, University of Sao Paolo
Professor Mladen Dolar, University of Ljubljana
Professor Elissa Marder, Emory College

The conference is co-funded by the The Swedish Foundation for Humanities and Social Sciences (Riksbankens Jubileumsfond).
